Quite frankly, I think its time we stopped with all the excessively micromanaged speed limits and introduced a dangerous speed law, so if you drive too quickly you get pulled by the coppers, paid for by not putting so many speed limit signs up.
Would that not come under the existing dangerous driving law?

Yes !!!! For once it gives a reason for my mini to be going so slow !!!! Hate it when I get on the dual carriage way and everyone zooms off I'm left thinking need vtec mini (dribble) :)
Just boot it
I have :) all tho saying that I know it's really bad and I'm not proud of myself but I was going down hill on dual carriage way and BMW behind me so thought I better hurry up and going down the hill and this BMW was getting closer and closer then looked at my speedo almost at 90 and it was handling fine and was like F*CKKKKK LOL

If the area is built up then its clearly not safe to be doing 50mph
90% of the time if glance down at the speedo I'm only 5mph over the limit anyway. People struggle to keep up, I never have issues with people tailgating me.

I drive about 1000miles a week and the most frustrating thing in the world is people driving at 40/50 in a 60mph limit, on a straight open road on a nice sunny day. I drive for a living and being constantly held up by inconsiderate people on the roads p*ss*s me off!
What is safe for you at 60mph, as maybe a skilled professional driver is not necessarily safe for an inexperienced young new driver or an older pensioner with slower reactions.........we have to share the roads with all kinds of people and different driver abilities therefore your frustration is not just caused by other drivers being inconsiderate. Travelling faster on Britains crowded roads often only gets you to the next set of traffic lights quicker and rarely makes much difference to overall journey times........what do most people do with the extra 10 minutes or so saved anyway by taking risks........perhaps better to be late in this world than early in the next!

Only problem with that theory is that serious collisions very often involve a second vehicle/innocent party. Also as the slower of the two vehicles tends to absorb more of the energy of the impact, it's very often the innocent party that is seriously/fatally injured. Therefore increasing speed limits probably wouldn't actually kill off the stupid and careless people in our society, it would just kill off more of the people that they crash in to!!
That's quite true actually. My mum was hit by someone else driving too fast down a country road.
I deal with road traffic collisions on a daily basis, and in my experience fatalities in national speed limit zones actually tend to be as a result of "head on" collisions (often as a result of dangerous overtaking), or where vehicles leave the road at speed and collide with trees at the roadside. Lateral or "T-Bone" collisions (where vehicles on major roads collide with vehicles accessing from side roads) actually tend to be more common in urban/ built up areas and speed restricted zones.
I'll take your word for it then but the road I was on about I know that most were caused by people pulling out on people. The speed limit needs to be put on the main road really so people slow down as they come over the crest of the hill. Saying that though the 60mph limit gives you enough room to stop if you stick to it.
One problem is that if they put too many low speed limits on roads people won't take them seriously. My road is actually an old taxiway from the airfield that ued to exist there in the war. It may only be wide enough for one car but you can see someone coming from a mile and a half away so is perfectly safe to do 60 mph down it. If you see someone coming you slow down. There is no need to put a speed limit sign on it.
I like how the government say we need to reduce our carbon emissions and be more eco friendly and then slow the traffic down making it less efficient. They will increase the cost to businesses as deliveries can't be made as quick so more fuel has to be spent and more on driver wages.

When you understand that all your texts and emails are now stored, as eventually every aspect of our lives is going to be tracked and traceable to be used against us at some point, so let’s all either rise up and challenge or become depressed boring individuals. There are cronies in Europe that want all motorbikes banned and if not banned to max out at 70mph. Why is there no way we cannot get a collective voice together and get all these ******* to be realistic or get them put out of a position of influence, I really feel sorry for the youth of tomorrow. It is only going to get worse.

If anything making it 20mph is just going to wind people up because 30 is slow enough as it is, and instead of grannies doing 20 odd in a 30 now it'll be around 15, christ!
I could actually imagine that around here!
they drive so slow sometimes. It irritates me most they do 25 -30 in a 60. & then when you get to a 30 zone they choose that time to speed up

Exactly the same as where I live, everyone around here drive slow enough as it is!
