Join the metro scene and tell me if you can still justify your comment Re engine conversions and interiors :-)

How does importing work for you over there? Maybe I could help source a good one in the UK and do some organizing if you ever became truly interested enough to want to pay that kind of money :-) The offer is there

And what is wrong with beige may I ask?

Metro bashing is getting old - they're great and sadly under-rated cars, myself included, until I ended up with this one. Having said that my R100 was dreadful, the brakes failed big time at high speed on the motorway. Twice.

Nice Tro. :-) I love my R114 but I won't bother trying to defend because it's only good because of the work it's had done to it. I'm all too happy to agree that they are utterly terrible cars as standard... but like all cars and bikes, if you put the time and money and effort it in can be made to be good

I think the worst thing about them was the build quaility sadly. The design is basically very good, just the incorrect use of hyrdogas (side to side at the back!!!) on early cars. I much prefer working on a Metro to a Mini and repairing the body is easier until the rust really sets in but no worse than early Fiestas etc. Can't beat a Mini for trashing about in or for looks but as a daily drive the Metro is a better bet I recon. Just such a shame some people still destroy them for the hell of it. I tried to buy a competely mint 25k vanden plas at xmas but the owner decided to take the engine out and scrap everything else.

I nearly bought a two tone VDP, the blue one, utterly gorgeous was a rolling shell and offered good money... but he scrapped it instead.

Hydragas can easily be made much stiffer by individualizing as you see on MGF's and a few other later MG's... allows you to lose the nosedive stance which a front heavy Rover Metro or 100 has as standard and pump different pressures into each corner of the car... makes it at least 5x more stiff than standard at standard right height... lower it and you'll be feeling the cats eyes

There aren't many (any?) cars that are retro/neo classics being scrapped at the rates of Metros.

Being an early car my front shocks are individual from the factory and have shocks as well but the rears need doing. Do you mean fitting MGF units as well? It does roll a lot depsite a front ARB.
