I'm not sure a UK based sub-forum would attract much traffic from actual Americans.

What makes TMF great, aside from the technical info, is the enthusiasm shown for the mini by young people.

Most mini people in North America are old folks, as seen on minimania, who are mostly stubborn people with outdated information. And also not the type of people who would stray on to any part of the internet based outside the greatest country on earth.

Like the person who insisted there were NO JOHN COOPER WORKS till that company in Germany had the option

Alright just asked about getting a US sub created. I also asked if we could redirect that specific subforum to my domain www.theminiforumusa.com that way it can relate directly to all the "old and stubborn" people in the US with the greatest country in the world complex! by the way I am US based (if you haven't guessed that already) and I am 23 years old and have 3 mini friends who are also young like me SO THERE!!

Awesome! I think this is an excellent forum and it is by far the most active and informative of all the Mini forums. I think having a regional forum will allow US, Canadian, German, etc members to connect with people closer to them. Hopefully it will allow posting more relevant classifieds and forming some good cubs. I wish there was a club for people near me. Every Mini owner I have met so far has been twice my age (I'm 28) and not really interested in meeting up and going for drives or meeting up to work on the cars. I have high hopes. I tried to ask for this in the feedback section so I'm hoping this gets done!

I'd say go ahead and try your own forum... I have to agree, minimania is awful to navigate!

I've done the same, there was only one forum operating catering to minis in Australia which was out dated, so I started up my own mini forum. There are a lot of differences between Aussie minis and UK ones, so it's a worthwhile resource. The forum uptake has been slow but it's not a huge expense and it's a nice project for me to work on in my spare time

oh that green mini is

Thankyou. I have spent many happy times in North Carolina from 2001 to 2009 visiting a lady I met playing cards on Pogo. My friend passed away in 2009 and I have't been back since.

Maybe you and your friends could consider driving over here next year, Mini Meet West 2013 is in my stamping ground, 30 miles away in Bend. I too would love to meet my kind of people and there is always a warm welcome at my home.

I'm getting my Cooper ready for The Columbia River Concourse d'elegance on august 5th. It's a juried event and Mr. Bridger has been accepted to be shown in The Founders Class, they ask entrants to dress in the era of their vehicle, nothing springs to mind for 1998, so I am going to dress as Queen Elizabeth being as this is her Diamond Jubilee Year.

Looks like we have our USA section going already lol lol lol.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend I know its really awful to lose someone close to you. That sounds like an awesome idea!! I think I can figure something out for my 1960. I did search 1998 and this was the result so obviously you have to dress like this

Unfortunately it wouldn't work for me, I'm not that thin lol

Personally I turn to TMF for good reading but my favorite US based forum is 'Se7ens' at roguese7ens.com/se7ens. It's a small and young forum but the admin is great to work with. I know there are Canadians there and as a Kiwi living in the states I'd like to see Se7ens grow.

The wife and I were at Fontana for Mini's on the Dragon, we'll be there next year too.
We also go to Tennesee a lot. Her family is from there.
If your ever heading to Michigan drop a line.

I was actually trying to work this afternoon so I missed all this great discussion.

I'm in western Canada and even though there are not a lot of Minis around here I hang out on TMF. There is something to critical mass that gives it momentum and the number of people on the forum means that it is more likely that a question will get answered. Other small forums don't get much activity, which means (IMHO) they are not worth checking out very often.

Most of the questions we have are the same regardless of where we are from. The torque setting for a nut is the same in South Africa as it is in Portsmouth as it its here. There are particular issues that owners in each country have (parts sourcing, import, duty etc.) so I like the idea of a sub forum rather than a whole new forum on another domain. So that is +1 to a forum for the "Former British Colonies" (although our friends in Germany, and a few other places, may not pleased with that name).
