Like you say most classic insurance is for ages 21+ (also not all of them give you a no claims)
Have you tried any comparison sites like compare the market as thats where i managed to get my insurance.
The area you live can also affect your insurance due to the amount of claims or busier road conditions.
I've got a 1983 Austin mini with insurance for £1200 fully comp at 19 with my dad and (brother driving for 2 months) - both named drivers.

Either use a comparison site or phone around & try Graham Sykes.

I'm 17 and just passed my test. 998cc with a few mods.
Cheapest quote £2600 from Graham Sykes, then £2800 from Adrian Flux. TPFT. That's the best I can get anywhere, milage doesn't change much, and with a parant as named driver. Although I do live in a crap postcode, which has quite a bit to do with it I think.

Adding my dad with more no claims than will fit on the drop down added £200 to mine, so be sure to check with and without.

im 18 mate but did you go on the modified policy and put a lowish millage and it might lower it, for me i got a quote on a standard policy and it cost 2500, but when i got a modified quote it was over 1000 less

Ahh I see. Well they told me that was with their 'mini scheme', which I presumed would be cheaper than standard. But I'm going to check on monday I think.

Theres no way round insurance you just have to pay...
Ive spent hours upon hours on the internet and on the phone, every loophole closed.
I'm 17 just passed my test with bad postcode, best quote modern 1.0L car 7k, classic beetle 2k, mini 3k. so i got 1275 mini 3.5k
It's so annoying we got 4 cars and i can't drive one. At 7 grand i could go out and buy brand new car!
