I don't think London wants people to think they dwell in the past...

I mean history is great, but wouldnt want the rest of the world to see you are still putting around in 50 year old cars.

They should've had astons and jags doing donuts.

Even my Yank other half said the person who had the idea of putting that car in the opening ceremony should be taken to The Tower and shot

 A nice history lesson as well.

Oltonlad - what a ridiculous comment to make. That has nothing to do with any of this.

As for the MINI, I agree a classic should have featured at some point, it's iconic British. As should a black cab, red bus and phone box. But that aside, the MINI was the right car for that part - it was the Olympic Speial Edition one.

Oh and of course it has to do with money. We live in a commercial world. The sooner people accept that the better. It's the way of the world and you can whine all you want but you're not going to change anything!

But a really great ceremony. Very proud to be British.

The Industrial Revolution bit was by far the best, Danny Boyle certainly did it justice. But I agree, Mr Bean could have overtaken the runners on the beach in his Mini!

Mr Bean should of driven his mini in, take out a few small children, lightly crash into the Bini before doing a handbreak turn into the orchestra and then sitting at his keyboard

It would of been a lot more entertaining :highfive:

Is there a legal firm sponsoring the Olympics? If so, they'd love that!
