Banded steels, are they legal, yes (legally no different to welding your heelboard, need to be fit for purpose).

Can you run 4x100 PCD wheels on a mini, yes, BUT you will put stress on the wheel studs and risk them failing. You can get around this by using wobble nuts, but not a route i'd want to go (plenty of VW's use wobble bolts to run Mini alloys though :P)

The wheels in question I think are off of a Vauxhall victor fb. Other sources of 4x4" 13" OEM steels are Vauxhall Viva (but not Chevette, thats 4x100), MG midgets amongst others

Were to get them banded. Few options, on ebay there are a few places offering it, www.bandedsteels.com or go on to retro rides and hunt out either JamseP or Dez. I used JamesP to build me a set for my MX5 a few years back, and Dez is an amazingly skilled fabricator

edit: those wheels are based on mk1 golf steels, so will be 4x100.

Is a 13 inch steel wheel not very heavy for a mini ? The red mini must had some serious trimming at the arches to make it fit like that no ?

Mine aren't banded they are new outer hoops with centers tig welded in. As in my other thread, that's how they were made up. Been running them for months now, they aren't all that heavy, and ontop of that I went with a taller tire to give me a little more sidewall for comfort on 13's. Worked out good, still need to find the time to look for some center caps just to fit hole in the middle to finish it off. I ended up not liking the chrome caps to cover the center.

People run 13" wellers ok and I doubt it needed any more arch trimming than if it was running a set of 13x8 alloys (which is still quite a bit ;) )

Good info! After hours of researching and stressing i think i will just be getting 12" mini steels, banded out to 7" (s) wide :P

I'm in the US, and I had my buddy do it out in California. So not really a cost effective solution for you. I have looked into doing 12" steel wheels, cutting the center out carefully and changing the offset to give it the deep dish look, but still only be a 4.5 or whatever width they came in to run 165 tires on it. Something like that would only cost $50 a wheel to do.

And you can't in 10's either, but plenty of 10x7's on the road ;)

and if you want your camper rim's widened, jump on Retro Rides and talk to Dez or JamesP, you'll be looking at £50 a wheel for 15's, widened any amount (James prices anyway)
