Hi, I'm building a boot build for my car (not mini). I want a 12" sub, but don't know which one to go for and what amp to choose. Are Alpine and Vibe the best?
What about mutant, they any good?

I will be removing the sub from the box if it has one as I'll be having my false boot floor modified to take a 12" sub so it doesn't take much room in the boot as a sub in a normal box would then the amp fixed under the false floor.

Cheers

I don't really want to spent more than £120 for the both :ermm: would that not be enough? Obviously I'll have to probably buy second hand, but I just want something simple with decent sound and some nice bass.

Your amp looks nice in your build thread. How much was that?

My amp was 100 posted, a fair bit but worth it - and thats only for my component speakers haha :D

Hmm... I've gotta go work now but freshairmini will guide you to a good amp and sub for <£120

Ok bud, cheers. I'll definitely go for a JL audio sub then, now to find a decent amp. Be good if I can get a JL one like yours :-) I don't mind spending a bit more.

£120 for both sub and amp might be a little difficult. As the second JL sub you posted up (the 12w3v2 one I think) has a RMS of 300watts, which means an amp that will provide that at a decent quality wouldn't be cheap!

Take mine for example. I have a Genesis Profile Sub, which is a monoblock amp for sub woofers. This will give an RMS of 350watts, which would ideal for that amp, but you would be looking at spending about £90-£120 (and at that price its still quite cheap for the sound quality you'd get, so expect to pay more for new amps). You would then have to factor in the power cables and fuse and other bits like that, so it stack up quite a bit.

For you budget I would prlly look at that lower end JL one, unless you buy this stuff in stages, which would be more beneficial in the long run.

Would be worth checking out the TalkAudio forum classifieds, I got all my stuff there at brilliant prices...

Thanks mate. Would this amp http://www.ebay.co.u...#ht_1974wt_1199 be alright with the second sub I posted (the 300watts one)?

I'd of liked a JL one so they're both JL.

I don't get it :( lol

175 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms
250 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms
500W max power

So what does that mean? I can have at least a 500watt sub?

I've got an headache lol. Hate ICE :P
