What would be best, ported or sealed? The enclosure will be under the false floor so will it make a difference if it was ported or sealed?

It really depends on what you want your sub to do. At 300w you're not going to light the spl (sound pressure level) world alight so I'm guessing it's mostly for your own listening pleasure.
Sealed is easy, ported 'sounds' louder but you need to get the port right or it gets fuzzy. It's not rocket science and there's even calculators online to tell you how big to make it.

Ported tunes (boosts) a speakers/enclosure to a targeted frequency but this will be at the expense at the rest of the frequency range.
Most of the off the shelf ported enclosures are tuned for volume at around 40 to 50hz.
This gives you a loud 'one note wonder' but not nice SQ.
You can build enclosures to boost at the hard to reach low frequencies (30hz and lower), this can help SQ (linearity of output). But is hard to do and easy to get wrong.
Go Sealed. Smaller boxes easy to build.

Just looking on ebay and why do loads of people have a sub that's like twice as powerful as the amp. The other way round and you'd blow the sub, so surely having a powerful sub at like 1200w and the amp not even half that would sound ****
Edit: Oh, 1200w would be the subs maximum....

General marketting hype is to list the max power because people like big numbers.

Yeah they are probably the boy racers selling their saxo's sound system and obviously the higher the watts to them iz lyk propa sick 4 tunez blud.Would these be subs that are being listed as "MAX POWER 1000w MEGA AWESOME BASS SOUNDS" and infact would probably go pop at a sniff of 300w

This made me laugh. Looks so stupid!

I bet his boot catch really enjoys it.

*Edit* That "1000w" amp is actually 95w per channel, with a claimed bridge of 400w. I'd guestimate you'd be lucky to see 300w and then it would pretty rough.
