ok i have a 1978 russet brown mini clubman, 27k on the clock, never been welded, original sills, everything is standard except that it has a 1310cc turbo engine and 4 pot brakes.
i will never be an original car as the bulkhead has now been cut (by previous owner)
do i keep its standard apart from the engine brakes and suspension or go mad and change things???
if so what do i change?
i will be selling as soon as its finished so want to see whats the best to get the most money really

If its for money it would be best to put the bulkhead back to standard, ( its possible to get a really good finish with the right approach) and get everything as good and clean as possible,
that would get the most money as it allows people who want a standard car to keep as is and add their own touches or people who want to modify to start from a good solid mostly original base.

If you want to maximise the resale value, I think you would be best off replacing the engine and brakes with good condition standard items and then selling the engine separately. Take videos of the engine running etc before hand to help with the sale.
It's fairly hard to get money back on any mods unless they are exactly what the buyer is after and even then its hard.
Good luck - it looks a nice little car.

ive bought new shocks, dash, straight cut gears, intercooler, mk1 boot and lamp, low back classic buckets, roll cage (but wont drill the floor) and a few other bits.
if i put it back to original whats it worth or what will someone pay not to over price it

I would put it on 10" Cooper S rims and have some fun like that, oh and put some chrome caps and trim on the rims as well. Once you have had your fun then i would say put a normally aspirated engine in and keep it on the S rims. Oh and revert to Cooper S single pot discs and calipers.

Yes ask Cooperman, he used to rally with this brake set up and decent pads with no issues at all.
