Problems with the paint so no ride tonight.

The paint on the arches reacted so thats buggered it for tonight.

Paint is on the repaired door and seam trims.

Tomorrow my paint man is prepping the arches and i'll be assembling the door and seam trims. THEN its a trip round the block.

When it pulls away on a slight hill start in second without any hesitation, its gonna be quick. Suffer top end though, but its all country roads round here and is kept below 60 anyway. That was the point of fitting the 3.76 FD, cheap and easy torque at the wheels

I have been amazed at the progress! very impressive mini sprocket.

I was just wondering, what ecu are you using with this 1399 monster?! Its just I thought the standard one was quite restrictive.

Its not the ECU thats restrictive, its the Injectors etc, he has got uprated injectors and a modified throttle body.

He will be able to tell you in more detail.

Well done getting it done mate, all the best for the mot tomorrow and i hope to see it at the weekend.

Thanks every one.

Passed MOT with only the head light adjustment, and he did that FOC.

So another 12 month ticket.

Just need to finish off those bits that are not quite right but its driveble, useble and I'll be at BMC Showdown, if it gets us there ( you never know)

Oh and its bloody quick, dont know what its gonna do on the strip because the 3.76 FD is SHORT, but thats not why I built it.

I'll get some piccies up in a bit, just having a rest at the mo, was up till one in the morning and then back on it at half seven finishing it for the MOT.

As for the ECU, Jackmans right, its the injector, that reaches 83bhp at %85 duty cycle. Push the power more and your running the risk of damaging the engine. Simple solution, fit a bigger injector. I was considering a Cooper ECU as those engines run a CR of 10:1 where as the non cooper runs a CR of 9.4:1. This engine is running a CR of 10.5:1. I have already noticed a little pinking, of which I'm gonna try and adjust the dizzy to retard it a little. As for using the cooper ECU, i left it for another time as Im after one with an alarm as well. Minidaves, was gonna sort me out, and I never got back to him, so, Minidaves, sory for not replying, just been to much to think about recently and not enough time to fiddle with it.

Like I said, Piccies in a bit.

Car is back home and in its place.

I've had issues with pinking, as I had thought, the non cooper ECU is not up to the job. gone from 9.4:1 CR to 10.5:1, this is causing pinking under load. Cant adjust the dizzy because its the ecu that determines when it fires the spark. Im already using Super unleaded for this reason, but added some octane booster, so now recon its close to the Tesco 99 now.

Tomorrow awaits :)

Well done mini sprocket, the pictures look fantastic.

Thanks for the answer to the ecu query. Do you think there would be much benefit in fitting a mappable ecu to your car as opposed to the cooper one?

The reason im asking is that I was wondering if I could put my 1380 from my current mini, into a later one and still utilise the ecu and its sundries.
