The sub frames for the Honda engines cost big money!! Never thought about a micra engine?

a friend runs a 1380 in quite a high state of tune, and the standard micra engine in mine with modified manifolds and no cat is so similar in performance, (probably a touch quicker but not much) but so reliable. 2years hard running now and no issues at all, just service it and drive it.
Not the quickest of engine conversions by a long way but no body mods and still feels like a mini to drive.
a great everyday car.

Money isn't the main concern at the moment, it's more time and effort than anything. The car would be driven daily, roughly 10,000 miles a year. I can get the 1410 off my friend for a good price, considering it has over £7000's worth of receipts.,.
Don't the Honda engines struggle to stay at a good temp tho? I can see them being a struggle to keep cool? I may be wrong.
Now I think about it the bike engine would be quite noisey .. And with it being a daily driver, hmm ill have a look at that website because I know the Honda engines need chassis reinforcement

At that rate the A series engine would need rebuilding every 6 months, they don't last long making that sort of power.

If you want high power and reliability, you are going to want an engine swap.

Is it hard to fit a micra engine? Seems a good idea for reliability and all that,
Don't really fancy re building a 1410 every 6 months... Then again ... What exactly do you mean when you say rebuild?

Im looking at swapping my 998 for a 1.3 micra k11 engine, bit of modifications and you could touch 100hp quite easily and not drop reliability.

Have a look here http://www.theminifo...showtopic=57644 and go on some micra forums, seen 160hp out of a 1.3 with turbo

if you break it down into bite size pieces its not hard. plenty done it on here, all different but all work and every owner seems pleased with result.

What he means by rebuild is, checking the crank journals, sheels and oil pump, bores for ovality and wear, pistons for wear and rings they are the main items and will need replacing at this state of tune, then the gearbox bearings, diff and syncro hubs. As a example Inch engineering Plymouth have their high revving 998s down after every meeting for a freshen up. A high powered A series needs a fair bit of work and money spent on it to keep it running.

I was thinking about the same thing yesterday night. I want some sort of turbo set up. Then it hit me, I have everything at home to build a Mazda 323 turbo engine (the earlier 1.6 not 1.8 for those who know the 323). Need to do some homework to see if it would fit and see how much hassle it would be. Also need to find the best way to get the engine running FWD. was thinking if it would be ok to just use the actual box without prop and rear set up. Had a Mazda running 11 sec 1/4 without much work so imagine the same spec on a much lighter car!!!

How are you planning on insuring this as an 18 year old?
