Just an update on this so you guys don't think something is being discussed which isn't.

The LWB idea is a no go. Its too segregated and there aren't enough LWB projects to warrant a subforum solely for them. However, you have a raised attention to a problem in the projects section where there is alot of content overlap so where to put a thread isn't clear.

What I have proposed to the other staff for consideration is restructuring the projects section like this:

Mini Saloons (Roundnose and Clubman alike)
Mini Variants (Vans, Pickups, Estates, Mokes, etc.)
Engine Conversions
Other Projects

This separates your LWB projects from the floods of saloons along with other rarer derivatives. It also removes alot of the overlap making it much clearer where threads should be posted and where to look for projects of a given type.

Thoughts?

The z-cars section is more than a project section, it includes technical questions and chat as well. This is because the majority of the z-cars tech questions are completely unrelated to a standard Mini so would not suit being posted in the main technical section of the forum.

The motorsport forum is very new, not even two weeks old yet.

Gadgets I'm glad you agree with what I've proposed :proud:. Once I've got some input from the other staff we can see about gauging interest and views from forum members.

NO WAY GOD DAMN IT!!!!!!! I WANT IT CALLED LWB VARIANTS! >:(

Arrrr hahaha! not really that works for me too. I can't remember the last time I've seen a moke thread, so it I guess it will end up with mostly LWB models in it anyway.

So I guess we all win.

Thank you TMF, you can do ahead and get on with it now I've given my blessing. :D

In defence of the Motorsport section, it's dead on dedicated Motorsport forums right now simply because the only active World Series right now is the WRC, and I bet quite a few people would be stunned to know that 2 rounds have already been completed.

New idea sounds fine to me as well.

Is that a valid argument?

I think it is a valid point yes. If you don't think that it's valid maybe we aren't talking about the same thing?

It's not a case of how much server space it might take up, it's a case of what is best for the forum. Also, it isn't quite the case that you can just delete it if it doesn't do well. All the threads in that section would need somewhere to go and since they wouldn't necessarily all fall under one subforum they would have to be sorted by hand.

Hey Deathrow. first of all thank you for acting on this issue, but earlier in this thread I posted this idea..

Saloon projects
LWB projects
Moke's and kit cars
Engine conversions

Other projects

The reason being there are lots of minius' and midas' etc on this forum. I strongly feel that vans/pups/estates are a whole section on there own.

I think that having the main areas, SWB, LWB and kit cars etc, is a much better way of organising the project section and actually have any real effect at all, otherwise the hassle may not be worth it at all.

I understand that this is just my opinion, but hopefully you guys will take it on board

Steve your opinion has been taken on board, it was your original post that I based my restructuring idea on.

The reason we haven't separated out Mokes and Kit Cars is that there is an insufficient number of these to really justify a subforum dedicated to them. I think it would probably take a long time to even get a page of topics in that section. I don't see any reason why they can't be included with the other Mini variants.

If someone wants to see something other than Saloons, they will check the variants section and it should be easy enough for them to find what they're looking for as there will be a limited number of topics due to the rarity of these cars in comparison with saloons.

By all means we can see how it goes and if it's deemed that there are a significant number of threads it could be further split at a later date, I don't think it will be necessary but time will tell.
