I know of a case where someone had brought a car with them halfords alloys on... they arent a petrol head or car enthusiast at all and didnt know any better... had an incident and insurance wouldnt pay because the alloys were not declared...

what about provisional insurance as I want to learn to drive in the car? How much would the premium go up on normal insurance do you think?any modification and anything non standard needs to be declared to your insurance.

If its all listed in black and white then there's no argument.
There's also the fact that raceier seats, alloys, ICE etc will make it more attractive to car thieves. Insurers will want to know stuff like that so they can price your premium based on the chances they may have to pay out at some point.

declaring the modifications doesnt necessarily mean a higher premium..
