that's so sweet, setting up a school for unpriveleged cartoons... the above guide is pretty good actually... although i'd state you need to rinse the car with ya hose before you start going at it with a shampoo and mitt... because any residue dirt or grit and sand or salt or anything abrasive can cut at your paint :)...

Rinse, Shampoo, Rinse, Clay, Polish, Wax. Set yourself a good amount of time too! because if you do it right the first time, its easier to keep up with there after...

ths reminds me how dirty my mini is.

TWO BUCKET METHOD PEOPLE

3 Buckets if your doing it properly Ian!! That's what Dodo Juice recommend anyway lol

I love bringing my Mini back to life with a bit of cleaning and detaling. My mates think I'm stupid for cleaning it every week for at least a couple of hours, but I don't care. I don't like my Mini looking like a bog brush. Can't recommend Dodo Juice enough, and Meguiars. If you join Auto Finesse, Dodo Juice, Meguiars etc on Facebook, they regularly hold weekly competitions to win stuff from their range, so it's well worth joining if your just beginning into detailing, or like me, love freebies lol

Much as the above guys have said, 2BM, with products from AG, Megs, Dodo and CG. Last autumn I gave it a full clean, clay, and a few layers of AG HD wax to protect it, then parked it in the garage under a cover.

I love having my Mini spotlessly clean, it become quite an obsession :proud: Conversely, you can't even tell what colour my VW is!

Being an MPi theres a huge mess under the bonnet to try and keep on top of too! This is probably the hardest bit, there's so many intricate parts, but from 1m back it looks acceptable.

Rinse after clay baring is also a good idea, removes all the residue.

Nah mate he uses a coarse enough polish to grind the scratch out of the paint.

^ Thats pretty cool.

Don't know much about detailing, but the results after a 'detailing' look incredible.

Can you get rid of the orange peel effect that some modern paints leave after a respray by a good detailing?

That requires a wet sanding process. A lot more technical but if you send it to a good detailers they'll wet sand it for you, KDS will do a very good job.
