You see in the second pic, there are three layers, how many should there be?

In the area of the shock mount there is two layers of metal. There is a reinforcement panel behind the mount. I will post a picture of what i mean.

Judging by your picture you need to take off the scuttle close out off as well.

There is always rust lurking behind there. I 've done three mini's so far in this area and all three had rust behind there. its a classic moisture trap.

This is what happened with Project Erm, more patches than a patchwork quilt. I changed the lot on Erm Including most of the front bulkhead.

Don't forget if you are going to buy Heritage then get them from Minispeed 12.5% discount so well worth it.

Been so long since I made this thread but I finally have a welder!

I've nearly scrapped the lot so many times but I remember how I felt when I was 17 and scrapped my mini and that's what's stopped me,mini techniques till have have too (1275 gt).

Just picked up a second hand Clarke 135te with 3/4 reel of 0.6 & 0.8 wire,a mask,1 full bottle of co2 and one half full bottle of co2 (disposable ones) and some spare tips.it doesn't look like its been used much at all.

I still need to get some clamps but once I've got those I should have enough gas to practice with.Ill need to get a large bottle at some point.

I've got enough money right now to buy the clamps and the front floor panel so I'm going to use that as my practice (after some practice on some scrap lol)

If I buy a toeboard panel will it come with the lip to join to the front floor?

The toe board panel should have the lip for the floor panel to mount to.

Just made a phone call to mmachine about delivery, just waiting for a call back.

I asked about the complete sill assembly to 1st groove and he said its better to do an overlapping weld rather that a butt weld,I s that the norm?

The trouble is water will run along between the overlapped panels. I butt welded mine in.
