Have to agree with your previous post and to what others have said....ditching the blow through setup is probably the wrong choice as there seems to be a number of people out there who want the blow through but cannot achieve it. You're lucky to have what looks like a very well sorted installation but are being held back by one niggly problem. I would talk to slark or another mini performance specialist to see if they can recommend a solution if you cannot find one yourself

If i had this set up i would personally keep it and get the alternator sorted out.

Could you run it below the supercharger nose? so it can be belt driven.

Yes i think your right. I think i definitely need to keep what i have, particularly as i'm totally happy with the way it drives and the performance it gives. I think sorting out the alternator is the thing to do. Think i'll try and get hold of a small alternator and have a look at where could be a good place to get it mounted. That picture of the blow through setup is interesting, with the alternator mounted below the charger. It didn't look to me like there would be enough room to mount anything there. I'm wondering if that car runs a remote oil filter or not? Might have another look and see. Either that or above the exhaust manifold. I'll think of a way of getting it sorted!

just on another point, does anyone know anywhere you can buy a universal airbox? Or if you can get one made to measure?

Looking at the photo you can see that there is a remote oil filter. Its mounted on the left of the engine bay connected up using a braided hose.

Ahh yes i've seen it! I saw the braided hose but didn't see the filter at first. I'm definitely gonna check this option out!

LOL thats funny!

Nicks pic is a good idea, you could lose that tensioner and put a smallish alternator there.

I looked at putting something there before, but thought because of the oil filter it wouldn't fit. Never thought about remote mounting the filter. I'm definitely going to look into mounting something there!

I think you can buy remote oil filter housings from mini spares, but merlin motorsport do a range that is cheaper. Just need to make sure you grt the correct thread size

I forgot about the filter housing,

If you cant find any take offs to bolt to the front of the block, it wouldnt be that hard to make one.

I want a blow through setup. I spoke to Neil about the alternator issue when you mentioned it to me and he said they could look into alternative ones

im sure with their rep slark would have done this , but just in case , you do have that bike alternator fitted with either a internal rectifier or external rectifier regulator dont you ?

most bike alternators have a seperate finned box for doing the reg/rectifieing of the voltage ,otherwise you just have alternating current coming down those 3 wires , not good for the battery at all at all

re the rattling , can you put in a rubber bush to cushion the drive , something home made would prob make a big difference..

regards

robert

wont a little alternater fit on top of the supercharger, maybe you have to make the airbox thing on top of the SC abit smaller?
