I don't see how that picture could possibly make the car a death trap?

the wing isn't attached to the scuttle? that bit doesn't normally rust, so if it has got that bad there, whats the rest of it like underneath the paint and filler?

the scuttle lip seems to be missing / bent down / rotted off - probably a sign of further rust in that area

it is common on later mini's mid to late 80's onward

but the scuttle lip in its self is not dangerous / death trap - wing isn't normally attached there anyway ?

show some pics of the heel board / subframe / sills / floor / etc

also it's nearly a 30 year old car - it will need work from time to time

The wing doesn't get attached there at all, it has a bead of seam sealer in it.
And "that bit doesn't normally rust"? Have you ever seen a mini? practically every mini will rust around the scuttle area

Seems the panel gap is a bit generous ? but whats the rest like on the dangerous places, sills/floor/front-rear boards/boot areas ? this might be a minor fix where as the other stuff is major.

well the otherside that seems original is welded there spot welded and its the fact that nearly every panel is like that and it is a death trap if that panel is a well fitted panel

im not stupid and understand that a 30 year old car will need work and i did alot of work but when the hub shears on you and the body work is bad all over the car is a death trap

I think you need to see the rest of the car http://www.theminifo...en-the-mayfair/ might make the title a bit clearer

I had, but I was trying to point out just because a vehicle can just about scrape through a basic minimum test each year with 'just enough' for it to pass doesn't mean that its safe.

this is another one I'm currently working on that still had a valid mot... http://www.theminifo...y-1000-madness/
