What's the safest hight I can raise a mini by on hi-los without pulling the drive shafts to bits? The stables is quite rutted and my mini will ground out for sure

On the Safari Rally in 1967 Rauno Aaltonen had his 'works' Cooper 'S' raised up about 2" above normal ride height and that was no problem. For gravel rallies it is normal to raise the car by about 1" above standard and that is fine. Drive shaft angles are not much of an issue as the suspension height change will not make a great deal of difference to the shaft angles. Remember, however, that raising the suspension will make the camber more positive (or decrease the negative camber) so you may need negative camber bottom arms, followed, of course, by re-tracking of the front wheels.
