Thought I'd start a thread here since my car isn't really a project. Feel free to post your suggestions/comments about the car and enjoy the photos!

Plans for the future are to refurb the wheels (they may not look that bad in the pictures, but trust me, they aren't great) and tidy up the interior a bit by fitting new headlining and a few other small things.

Let me know what you think!  :-)

Looks fantastic. How's the rust on yours? My mpi was rather rotten when I got it so needed a new front end. Is it your daily driver?

Thanks for all the kind comments.

Thank you. We bought it in August last year and there is no rust at all on the bodywork. The underside is great too, subframes are solid the overall condition of the body (rust-wise) is more what you would expect from a 30,000 mile car, not a 66k miler as this one is. The previous owner was great and maintained it very well, so we got lucky finding this one really.

I don't yet have a license so haven't been able to drive it yet (it's more of a family Mini at the moment), but when I do it will be my daily driver for at least a couple of years. I probably won't insure it to drive at 17 anyway, insurance is just so expensive at the moment as I'm sure you know!

I remember seeing your car when you finished its resto. I have to say it looks great, the paint is excellent.

Yeh insurance certainly is annoying, when I was 17/18 it was pricey, I'm 23 now so not as bad. Just seen your project thread so will keep an eye on that. Any chance of a picture of your alloy door furniture? I'm considering getting some for mine but am undecided at the moment.

Here you go:

I bought them from ebay, they're new old stock Rover items with the green Mini wing logo on them. If you find a good set, go for it. The original items are worth the extra money.

We had an identical cooper, bought new in 1998, sadly sold in 2005 because it wasnt being used because of lack of space for buggy and baby stuff!

Got a Mk1 to replace it last year!

Very nice! Do you happen to have any pictures of it?

The car's going in for its MOT tomorrow, so wish me luck! Fingers crossed everything will be OK, at least I can be sure it won't fail on bodywork. Can I?  :D

I polished the car a few days ago so I'll try and get some more photos up sometime this week. Apart from removing the John Cooper decal, nothing much has changed since my last post, but I have quite a few plans for it in the near future so I will keep the thread up to date. I'm aiming to get a new headlining fitted and the wheels refurbished pretty soon, along with some other little bits.

Haha thanks man. I appreciate your enthusiasm.

Some new headlamp rings went on today, a huge improvement over the old pitted and tarnished ones. They were even dented as well, which I didn't realise until I had them off. I nice quick, cheap fix which has made a surprising difference to the Mini's face. I promise pictures will follow sometime soon.
