Agree 100% with Cooperman. I am no expert, but the bores on my 1275 Metro lump looked fine, and I thought I could get away with a hone & some new standard-sized pistons. Took it to a reputed race engine builder and he said there was no way he'd put new pistons in old bores for that very same reason as documented above. As said, tis a false economy.

There is nothing wrong with old bores and pistons if they measure up!
My advice to the original post is have your bores and pistons measured up/inspected then decide where and how much money is spent.

Instant rebore ranks up there with must regrind the crank.
If the accurately obtained numbers are correct, why waste money on either ??
