Working from memory. In Gp5 lots of suspension mods were permitted. You had to use the basic original system, but could add things. You could add supplementary springs of a different design, but you had to retain the original spring. So escorts got converted to coil spring/dampers at the back and then had a plastic leaf spring fitted.

Such a pity no classic clubs run Gp 5 races but even in Gp 5 ('66 on) you'd not be able to run it with that suspension. You car is more along the lines of the late 60's club racers' like Geoff Wood, Harry Ratcliffe , Bob Fox etc who all ran lightweight with beams, 1000cc 8 port with fuel injection. There's nothing around on circuits that caters for that kind of car. Hate to say it's a museum piece...but it's a museum piece !! If you're darn sarf I'd join DEWS and run it in their speed championship.

The suspension is all the usuall mini stuff now ie adjustable bottom arms, tie rods, dampers and Ripspeed Hi-lo's. Your right though, it is a shame grp5 isn't really catered for.
