There's no photos :( I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to ever do this!

I work for one of the biggest bus companies in the uk
All paint work inc whole repaints are done with a roller
You can get a good finish quickly
If you can gloss a door in your house and be happy with it you can paint a door on your car

You need a slow drying paint to stand any chance so either 2k with slow hardener and extra thinners or synthetic paint. Fast drying paints like cellulose won't work well. Forget any thoughts though if its metallic as you don't stand a chance. I would choose 2k with slow hardener then when it has cured you can wet flat it and on a flat surface like a door it wouldn't be difficult. I would also remove the doors to make it easier. Good quality aerosol paint mixed at a paint factors would be another good option.

im about to start roller painting my shell this weekend,

I picked up a few cans of gloss almond white

and some thinner to cut it with

and some 500-600-1000-1200 sand paint from my local motor store, I would like to get some 1500 or 2000 paper but will probably have to order it online

and a few fine rollers and I have a pair of painters coveralls and new masks to wear as well

I cleaned my garage and im gonna put some plastic down on the floor and put my car on that

and ive already done my final rub down and wipe down on the shell, I will do another wipe down before I start rolling paint on

ill post pictures in a week or so

I tried roller painting, followed all the directions people had put up took me ages and I did not get the results I was hoping for (something to bridge the gap until I could afford a real respray.) I am now using rattle cans and have much faster and decent results but only with the right technique and prep obviously. I can post some photos of that if you would like?

you have before with the rolling done and now with the rattle cans done?

I ones painted a dash of a 2001 gmc sierra with rattle cans and it came out so nice,

that people used to think I was playing with them when I said i painted it with rattle cans

prep work is everything

Spend some time on here and you'll see the quality of paint job you can get if you put the effort in

http://rolledon.foru...olled-on-forums

But, on your mini you are really going to struggle to get a match on just the doors (and being a metalic you'll struggle to roll it anyway). In fact even if you send it to a bodyshop, they aren't just going to paint the doors, they will have to blend it into the surrounding panels to try and get a match and under certain lights you will prob still see the different shades

Yes u can roller most of us professional dont do primer roller now but if u do u might wet and flat 80% of the high build away but when you come to primer again there is less primer to put down as the shape is already there anyway back on track I have currently rollered my shell door and so with etch and high build wet and flat it but I would recommend spraying the colour are you going for a2k direct gloss basically you dont put a clear over it or are using metallic or waterbase because the direct gloss u will be able to roller that but it will takw 3 good coats with wet flatting in between coats but with metallic I would spray as the depth of roller and wet flatting can be slightly different colours through the panels so in your answer yes u can
