I 've got 12x5 inch minilites with the old speedo but i don't think it should b that far out. I checked the carb and cleaned it but no luck??????? :'(

would say fueling / timing, youve already given it a server so try getting timing / carb done, a way to see if its lean is pull the choke out while driving, if it start to feel a better you prob need carb setting up.

Funny you say that it starts to rev slightly better with the choke out. After a bit i think a rolling roads in order. i was thinking of getting a stage 1 kit before this as it needs a new exhaust anyway good idea??

for a stagr 1 kit, get the one from mini spares as it comes with eveything and all the right bits. most others come with LCB manifold but the mini spares kit comes with a proper freeflow cooper one + needle and a few other bits.

yeah 170 ish. other places like middelfeild do a stage 1 kit for 130 buts really thats just an exsaught and a air filter. the mini spares kit is properly made for the 998. somthing to do with exsaught pulses.

You said you replaced the filters. Do you mean fuel or air?
If you haven't replaced the air filter(s) yet, try this test. Remove the air filter element(s) and take the car out for a quick test drive. Don't drive like this for long as you obviously run the risk of sucking in something that will damage your engine. A friend of mine bought a "used" Stage-1 kit for his 998. Shortly after installing it he found the car would max out at about 45-50 mph. He limped the car over to my house and we spent an afternoon going over EVERYTHING and nothing helped. Then he mentioned the kit he bought was used and on a whim we removed the K&N air filter. Immediately the car had full power. The K&N filter was plugged but looked relatively clean. A little careful cleaning and he was back "up to speed".

if youve got 12s on where it had 10s and youve got the same speedo i think youd be doing more like 65 when it says 50 (not certain tho)
