Not sure which type. Out of a 1986 Mayfair. 3 gauges and bulbs just push in

I think there may be some sought modification needed to the body of the clocks but only to allow the bulb to fit. As long as they stay in and connect to the copper tracking on the circuit board, then that'll be fine

The bulbs I bought we're a damn tight fit but they do go in (1970 1275gt clocks for reference).  Worth noting that you may find that in pulling them out again the bulb catches and then drops out of the holder into the clocks......

Getting the right setup using these LED bulbs is quite tricky and takes a bit of trial and error.

I bought a festoon bulb for my interior light, similar to the ones I used in the dash and it's cr@p - just not bright enough.  I ended up buying a CREE 3W LED festoon bulb and it's great - but it's 3x the price for 1x bulb.  A good indicator that it's a brighter bulb is that there is a heatsink attached to the back of the LED PCB - suggesting that it's being driven hard enough that it needs cooling.

Some of the bulbs on eBay just look rubbish - and the phrase "you get what you pay for" seems to apply.

i used the white ones of these in my sidelights and I love them! :)

Good point. I will see if I can open up the hole a little. I thought I could probably get them in when I first tried but wanted to check first.

Maybe you could shave a little plastic off the bulb housings? Saves modifying the dash cluster if you ever want to put it back to original.....

The bulb housing is fine. It's the actual bulb which is bit too big. They have 4 small LEDs round each edge and it is these which won't allow it to go through easy. I think if the dash is trimmed for them, you should still be able to go back to stock because the holder still same. Probably get to weekend now before I can try

I meant trim the actual bulb plastic not the black bulb holder.  If you've bought the same ones I have then the white section of plastic below the LEDs is pretty much size for size with the holes in the dash making it tricky to fit. You can shave this down slightly to make the fit a bit better.

When I fitted mine (also 1275gt clocks) I ended up removing the clocks from the car and removing the dials (only the speedo and rev counter) to fit the leds and quickly testing them with the dials removed before reassembly.

Yes those look the same. Will have a look to see what can be shaved off.
I didn't fancy taking facia dials off. Have read a few people who have broken their needles plus thought as the whole dial binnacle is off, it would be easier just to place them in from rear
Sure it will be more obvious when I take another look at weekend

I took the cluster out of the car, fitted all the bulbs from the rear and tested it on the bench before re-fitting (powered up the appropriate contacts on the pcb with a 12v battery).  No need to take the facia dials off.

You don't need to do any dismantling of the dials themselves, its just the 2 screws on each that hold the dials to the actual white plastic housing.

I fitted UV purple ones in to my 3 clock cream face speedo and it shows up well.

Also do the person on this topic before. You can get LED bulbs for club side lights as I had some. But in the end my light unit rotted so bad I replaced them with some full LED ones on a plastic back.

So it has one white LED side light and 6 amber ones.

Just need to point out to everyone here that using a plain LED for the ignition warning lamp will stop the alternator working and in the long term will damage it. There is a way to do it but you need to add a resistive load and some additional diodes.
