I'm looking to buy some spot lights next week (2 fog 2 main beam), because I've got a week off college. I'm thinking of going to a place called mini its or something like that in hockey heath, not sure if you know of it?

Anyway I'm looking for the best ones which to me mean:
Price
Power (highest wattage)

Also what layout can I set them up in? I was thinking of the 4 in a line thing but I hav'nt seen many other types of layout.

Cheers for your help

Rich

I like the two-up , two down look on a light bar on a mini. pretty snazzy, and not that common.

Mini-its reviews I've read have been pretty good, but i believe they are closed one day during the week, so check before you drive!

I've got 4 Ring 55 Watt spots that cost me £45 delivered via ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.u.....AMEWN:IT&rd=1

No pics at the moment as they probably won't be fitted for a couple months, but I've sprayed the backs the same colour as my car and will mount them all on a length of threaded bar. Because the bolt holes are near one edge of the lights I can have the middle pair above the bar and the outer pair below the bar, which I tihnk will look pretty neat, if you get what I mean?

I'll try to remember to put pics up if they're fitted anytime soon.

I want the brightest bulbs I can get because the ones I have (standard angle eye lights) are poo when I put main beam on so I want lights that will make it day light lol

In a word, Cibies. They are the daddies of lighting up, well, most of the solar system really. But if not (because you need a mortgage) then the lucas ones are also pretty good value i think. Might get away with slightly cheaper lamps and get some decent spot bulbs ie. philips, ring etc. Remember to check the rating of all electrics involved!

If Money is no object the go for the HID gas discharge spotlamps.

Or the spotlamps id go for are the Hella 3000, or the Britax version which looks exactly the same, you can buy them from Lucas, these are relatively big but are better than the candles you see on most minis

i couldnt agree more. i have 2 cibe oscars (7inch) but they are the daddies as mentioned.

WELL WORTH the price. and i also have 2wipacs which are also very good.

But id go for Cibes NO COMPETITION

Ive lput a pic of my mate, Rogers car(Red one) and petes car, both have the 2up 2down as does mine (<-------Avitar)

cibies are indeed cool and very good. I *think* you can only "legally" go for 55w on the road. I'll double check that though. (my brain ain't working so well today!)

yep from what i can remember it is only 55w, although its another of those things that most people (including the local law enforcement) are not gonna know or care about. i say MOST!
Ive got away with 100w H3's ;D as my spots in the golf for ages.

I may have inadvertantly fitted 120w (x6) and 60/100 headlight bulbs on a jeep I once had. 920w of pure light and you can see anything! ;D

That was when I was in the backwoods of sweden though.... those elks didn't even come near me! :D

Just found all the bits to make my light mount at Screwfix for not many dollars, should be able to fit the lights soon, so will stuck a pic of my 'budget' setup up when it's done. (Does anyone know where I can some chromed tube with an internal diameter of 8mm?)
