hahaha yea, no surprises there, the ultimate bodge of saving yourself a little extra work by only changing half an A panel was the one that had me laughing in disbelief

Yea we do need more out and out classic car shows like this.
Okay if you like the illusion of wheeler dealers having success, don't read the rest of this post
1st heart breaker, Edd and Mike only do a small portion of the work, they do a little in front of the cameras then 2 others do the rest of the work (ie if a balljoint is needed on each corner, Edd will do one, then 2 other mechanics do the rest)
2nd, the pricing on the latest series prices are basically made up. The TVR cerbera they did had its chassis done at a local TVR specialist whom my dad knows and he said its about double what they said it was on TV to get a new chassis for one
Probably not the biggest shockers ever, and if your watching it as a factual project show... sorry for bursting the bubble. I love it to see the nice old cars being restored and/or modified and find it al very interesting to see different cars mechanicals, but you cant take the pricing seriously
And nobody can actually believe that they've advertised their project on a "specialist website" and that the people who turn up are genuine buyers, I'm convinced they're paid actors
They was one episode I think it was the orange camper where they made out they'd received a letter from someone in the forces over sea who wanted to buy it, - couldn't even be bothered to get some actors in that time!!!!
So strangely intriguing though

When they actually do some mechanical work it can be quite interesting, but I watched the one when they did up a Landrover Defender by sticking some windows in the hardtop and putting some decals on the front! I'm sure he spent more in diesel driving the thing back than actually making any profit.

When the original programme aired a Mk1 Mini ('67 F Reg) was worth considerably less than it is today (bought for £300), only a Mk1 Cooper or S was fetching top money. Therefore it was often only economic to do more budget repairs to keep an early basic or deluxe 850 Mini roadworthy........on such a Mk1 Mini if the double-skined A-panel and hinge brackets behind are solid rust free metal there is still sometimes a case for only replacing the lower corroded part with new metal, if done properly with good welding and minimal or no filler this is not necessarily a bodge. On Mk3 onwards the much more simple design of single skin A-panel with no hinge reinforcement brackets is however a different case.
