So does the lifting make the air flow worse?

I think you'd have to do some experimenting to say for sure. Air goes through the grille, if it doesn't escape it will stall. Once the pressure is equal to the inertia of the air in front off the grille no more air will enter until the pressurised air finds another escape route. For a conventionally laid out Mini you want that to be via the radiator to the nearside wheel arch. Create a new opening and some air may whistle through, not only giving the radiator the swerve but destroying the pressure increase that helps the rest of the air into the wheel arch. It's a balancing act, it could be you provide a better exit for the heat from the turbo which could gain you more than you lose.

I did have a picture of a mini engine bay and where air pressure and stuff builds up but in my vast amount of stuff can't find it at this present time if i do ill post it

On a 988 with a cr of around 9:3 and an intercooler around the size of the grill (replacing it) what is the max boost I could potentially run?
