Had a few questions about my little car so I thought id start a thread to let You guys see
what weve been up to for the last 2 and a half years...

She started life as a cream Mini City E, was resprayed by the last owner in black with
cooper stripes and white roof which looked awesome but I wanted to make her more original. So...Shes now:

Black
Carbon miglia arches
Carbon Bonnet with induction holes and scoop
Carbon Mirrors
Carbon rear bumper
Carbon Bootfloor
Twin one off custom s/s exhaust
Chopped rear valance
Fully adjustable Suspension
Rear Beam Axle
10" x 7" MB Racing Split Wheels
Yokahama Advan Road Slicks
Gear Shift brought up into cockpit on a Carbon plate
Deseamed Front Valance
Mk1 Grill
Engine:
1380, 276 kent cam, Oil Cooler, Aldon Dizzy, One off carb needle,
Single SU carb, K&N Cone Filter, lightened flywheel, close ratio G/box,
Electronic Fuel Pump...

We are currently making carbon sun visors, carbon parcel shelf and a one off carbon sub enclosure for my unused back seats...
As you can all probably tell Carbon Fibre is definitely an illness...Once you start you just cant stop... :-P

brilliant spec there mate, you really have transformed it!

are you using a quickshift aswell as bringing the gear change inside the car?
what seat are you using and how is it attached?

i love it mate, will you sell me your alloys pleeeeeeeeease, that's what i'm wanting for mine, but still got to do the brake conversion for it! and the alloys ain't cheap i don't think

No no quickshift as of yet, tried a kad one briefly but didnt really get on with it too well...Want to get a tall one thou to get it right next to my steering wheel rally style...

A little info for you guys on MB wheels...
They are an absolutely excellent wheel but there are no locking nuts available as of yet
which really scares me when I leave it anyware and ther an absolute bugger to keep from
choroding in the winter...Road salt destroys em as ther not protected in any way so it might be an idea to wax the hell outta em before you fit em...
We laquered the inner rims which helped a bit...Luckily there quite easy to strip and clean as long as your ok using silicone when you put em back together...

cool mate thats how i want my gear stick, did you do the conversion yourself? could you put a picture up of it if possible. i didnt realise all your carbon bits show the weave, it looks mad! do you make that stuff yourself then?

they are the best wheels on the mini scene IMO, should get mine this week hopefully!

Made some brackets outta some alluminium angle from work...and a flat sheet for it to sit on...
The actual adjustable rod was a bit of a pain to sort out but I got there in the end...
Used two socket set universal joints welded to the original steel rod from a standard set up and an opposite thread adjustor from a boat chandlery...seems to do the job...



My seat is a sparco cheapy given to me from an old racer i met, a bit uncomfortable but better than standard seats... made the brackets also from some aluminium angle...

As the gear shifter has lifted up, how does the rod's different angle affect the gear changing?

what have u done about your speedo/tacho? Is that also involved in the racing theme?

The shifter works pretty much as it did before, no obvious difference in shifts...
Me and my mate do the carbon work ourselves which has its own trials and tribulations, but at least all
the bits end up bespoke which is always a bonus...

I did buy an R1 digital tacho and was fully intending on having a go at fitting it but after looking at the
wiring diagrams and needing cash for my engine quick, got cold feet...
My interior has been totally stripped and im currently designing a nice carbon dash as the center piece...
Im prob' going to look into some sort of digital dash but all my money at the moment is goint into an engine
rebuild so its on hold for now...

Thanks for all your interest guys...Didnt realise peeps would be so interested...
Got my wheels from Mike Barnby himself took a bit of persuing to get em thou...Hes either a very busy man all the time or he takes lots of tea and crumpet breaks during his working day
Think I paid £100 a wheel or so and £1 per wheel nut ...But that was a long time ago, inflation and all that...

As for the carbon my mate is quietly perfecting the art and is always willing to help me create any
mad creation i can cunjure up in my head...Hes Just worked on a hillclimb car for steve harris motorsport with excellent results...I designed a mad carbon rear diffuser for him which made it look so awesome...
He buys his carbon from an industry supplier in bulk which helps reduce the pocket denting...

As for the sun visors id have to get back to you on that 1, when i know how were gonna fix em to the car etc...

Might be worth a look at avonbars website as those wheelnuts look the same as the nut used for my 10x6 revolutions - if that is the case then locking nuts are available for about £19.
