After fitting a,safety divices rear road cage,I can't seem to fit my seat belts in.

In the rear bins where the legs go theres not enough room to fit the the roller for the belts.

Has any one else had this problem and if so is there any way round it,I no that the mot testers are fairly hot on seat belts mount so wasn't sure if it was ok just to mount them in another place.

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

fit harnesses! you're not gonna be using teh rear seats with the cage in anyway so rear access will not be a problem! :-

Just a thought straight of the head, have not tried it and it may or may not work.

How about taking the pasenger belt and fitting it on the outside of the driverside bin using the original mounting, also doing the same for the passenger side??

Like I said just a thought and may be unsuitable

I'd say go for harnesses....

I guess its a full cage, and not just a rear cage?

I fitted my rear cage in this weekend, and have no such probs

Fitting any safety device as NOT intended is dangerous.

Woao, I'm pretty sure theres a fair amount of room between the rear leg of my SD cage and the seat belt reel. Obviously I could be wrong, but there you go.

Also, its not quite as simple as just saying fit harnesses, do that and don't expect to reach any of the dash buttons while strapped in.

Jammy,

You can get street harnesses now that have an inertia-reel rear mount and work exactly the same as a standard inertia seatbelt! :-

This is a pic of Jammys cage he did for me for something else, but i clearly shows a very big gap between the cage and the reel.

Rather than looking for an alternative to fixing the reels, shouldn't you be finding out why the cage sits in a different place to most other people...?

Was hoping you'd post that up Pikey! That was kind of what I was getting at, but I didn't want to say it til I had checked my own car, which I can't do while I'm sat at my desk at work! :-
