KAD or KentAutoDevelopments is about the only purely competition-focused 5 speed I know of still in production.

Details here : http://www.kentautodevelopments.com/  then > A-series and classic mini > mini gearbox > KAD 5 speed Dog Gearset

Phil.

Over £3000 for a gear set. Wow, you can buy a complete restored Mini for that ;D.

Still, if it's for motor-sport and the regulations allow it then it might be a good and wise purchase. After all, an FIA spec engine & gearbox for Historic Group 2 racing can easily cost £20,000+ for a competitive Mk.1 Cooper 'S'.

Really depends on what circuits you intend to use it on & what discipline. Most people are still using 4 gears.

I believe David Rosenthal in South Australia put a 6 speed gear set from a bike into a mini gearbox casing. It was sequential also.

might be worth getting onto him if you can, he doesn't frequent any of the Australian forums anymore really (mine or Ausmini)!

I'm currently building a 6 speed sequential box using a Honda gearset.

it's near enough complete now, and im just onto the bench testing stage.

Never again mind...I'm used to tinkering, but rebuilding a box about 40 times to trial fit parts can get frustrating!

Yeah all on TM, it's been a lonnnggggg project, about 18months longer than I'd hoped! Lol

It'll hopefully be in the car in the next few months, I just need to finish rebuilding the engine and all the other bits I decided to change throughout the rebuild (read as near enough everything).

Wow that is a lot of dedicated work, good on you, hope you get it all working soon.

I cheated and used an Ardon Crossflow and gave it to a very good engineer, and extracted some good horse power, the block is a different thing, the only thing original MINI is the Block....But as you all know once you start spitting out big horse power and huge slicks, the gearbox is a major weak link....hence the Jack Knight Dog Box, it is a work of art, just a Sh...t that they fell over, would love to give it a rebuild other than bearings.

Just not convinced the current trend to fit 5 gears in the area of the original 4 set is the way to go.
