i came across a big box of photos from mini shows in my loft. i had a quick look through them and decided i would try to post them on here. maybe your car might be on here? maybe you remember some of the top show cars of the time, or maybe you own them now?

i have wondered what happened to allot of these? we used to see the same cars in the show and shine every year, then they disapeared? surely they didnt all crash or rot to pieces in the same winter?

i cant find any pics of some of my favorites, but does anyone remember "minty" which was a mint green saloon with custom billet 13" wheels? it was usually on show next to a pinkish mini with a black era type kit?

do you remember (i think his name was) trevor jackman? he had a blue clubman saloon with a custom bodykit and loads of polished bits? he started judging the concourse a few years after he started showing his car.

what about "GP MIN" (that was his show plate) it was a dark metallic kinda candy red mini, it was on the front of one of the mags. the engine looked like it had been powder coated and was really nicely turned out. remember that one?

feels a bit like crimewatch when they show you the pictures of all the criminals. "what about this man, he robbed the post office, someone must recognise him?" lol

pics to follow. give me 5 mins

Remember some from the magazines but never had the pleasure of seeing in the flesh.. Could always stick the reg numbers throughout the dvla link thingy see if they are still on the go....(limited in numbers you can do in one day...)

I've got some photos from 88-90 which maybe of interest as well, I'll dig them out and post.

this white one was owned by an older fellow if i remember right, he was an aerodynamacist (however you spell it) and this was meant to be very aerodynamic. i did see it on ebay a few years ago, had ended up in a barn or something and was in a real state, was quite a shame. did you buy it?

DSC_2975_zpsc703f6e4.jpg

this was taken at the top of the bank overlooking gaydon around about 99ish? do you remember that mini in the middle, huge arches, 15" wheels and about 4x18" subs in the back, it was really loud!

DSC_2976_zps2bcfbb8a.jpg

i loved this one as i had just bought a black clubman estate myself. this one was turbo'd and said "MINI HEARSE" on the back in one of those little rectangular badge things. i have some pics of it going up the strip at avon somehwere.

DSC_2977_zpsdfa87f7a.jpg

this was the queue into (i think) bingley hall, stafford show, i would have been 17 then i think. this yellow mini (again if i remember right) was in the 998 class at avon park and was REALLY fast for a small bore, i think it won its class for quite a few years. do you know how on earth they got it so fast?

Strangely enough I've just been tripping back down Memory Lane going through old photos, magazines and brochures too!

I have masses of photos from the late 80s and a lot from the late 90s... too many to scan but I might be persuaded to list the reg numbers, then if there are any current owners on here I would scan the photos for them.

I think a lot of cars do the rounds then get passed on through a few more owners, then get modified in different ways to the owner's tastes at the time. Mini fads come and go and 'show cars' tend to reflect this.

Lots of show pics from 1991 onwards on my flickr pages here...

I've got hundreds more that I've never bothered scanning, will have to do some more ;-)

my dad took this pic, he is quite into woodwork and i think he admired the arches!

DSC_2979_zps0119e5f7.jpg

i assume this was powered by a 16v A-series? judging by the plate im guessing it was a clubman, but i remember it was mint and sounded lovely!

DSC_2980_zps8e9c0a5e.jpg

this was my dads car (the one one the left!) we bought it for £40 and he used it for fun for about 2 years. but, do you remember this blue monster? it must have weighed a ton as the bodykit was all steel! it had still got an A series in it too

DSC_2981_zpsaef17fd0.jpg

these were at all the shows. they were owned by a family whos last name was "zahringer" (however you spell it) the blue on was the mums i think, and the green one next to it was the sons. it was meant to look like rovers "hotrod mini" but it was totally the wrong colour?

DSC_2985_zps2ffea859.jpg

my mum with her mini "P354EUK" i have seen this since, in worcester and it had been pretty much ruined.

DSC_2988_zpsdbe91243.jpg

my mates white nova, and my black one. i spent 12 months building that and never drove it once! it had a wide arch kit i made myself, 18" wheels (which was totally unheard of then!) centre exit exhaust which came out the top of the bumper, smooth bootlid, oh and mountain bike suspension springs in the back, total lowered height of..... 120mm! it wouldnt get down my drive without taking the bumpers off!

DSC_2991_zps8959974c.jpg

and me at about 15, spotty and thin! i wouldnt want the spots back, but i would give anything to have a 28inch waist again! lol

like i say, i never drove it, not even once! thats my "what was i thinking moment" having said that i was only 21 then, and it got my name known, after the local boyracers spotted that on my drive they all knew who i was and what i could do. shame i didnt try to make a living from it earlier

airbrushed mini, this was painted really well, i just dont know why on earth you would want this all over your car, if its still around, i hope you have painted over them!

DSC_2994_zpsad8ad6ae.jpg

this is from gaydon at the same time as that earlier pic, tthat white mini was my brother first one, it was an advantge that he made into a dis-advantage, shame he doesnt have it now, could restore it to original

I remember quite a few of those cars. I was parked next to "Low Fat Spread" at Longbridge in 1999 as part of the Mini 40 celebrations.

Phil.
