Cracking day of racing yesterday.

Hot and grippy, so full chat racing.

Shame I got towed off in the final with what sounds like pretty terminal engine failure.

Snapped crank perhaps? Only 1 way to find out, so better crack on one evening and get the engine out and stripped.

Happy to report it wasn't the crank but 4 out of 6 of the bolts holding the clutch cover onto the flywheel had snapped!

All fixed and ready for Sunday. Bring it on.

Blimey, been 6 weeks or so since last raced, as missed the last meeting due to IMM, but will be back on it on Monday.

 

Just the small matter of finishing building a trailer to do before Sunday evening.

yeah, did a cracking 2nd race, getting fast off the start, overtaking 2 cars and gradually reeling in the leader before I ran out of laps, and the usual pesky Nova's never got close.

 

Possibly my finest race all year, followed by a nasty knocking noise from the engine on returning to the pits.

Best engine is a loose engine..... but loose engines don't last long.

so what is a loose engine? play in mains/big ends?

 

Haven't split the engine yet, but quick diagnisis at the track is cylinder 3 big ends are shot.

Yep. Replaced big ends on 3 and 4, back in car and running sweet.

Just need to replace fuel filter and strap down fuel tank, but not out next weekend as off to get some laps in at the Nurburgring.
