and people wonder why the Bini's are not accepted by classic owners.

does it make a difference if we are not using the word Mini to make a profit eg. free membership clubs and web forums ???

But that patent is for MINI...... we are talking about Mini..............

How can it be just for Bini? the patents listings go back to 1971!

Couldn't really see the British doing this when the Classic Mini was about.

So proud they were of the product that any company using the name was quite welcome and Rover never caused a fuss.

I reckon either

A) They still haven't got over the war

or

B) Someone from Britain laid out a beach towel before a BMW Board exec at a holiday resort one year.

Either way, it's absurd that a company like BMW should have to act on a miniscule ( No Pun Intended ) item such as this. Despite the action that they are taking, I know plenty of BMW specialists that use the name BMW in their name and are BMW kicking up a fuss over them ?. Nope.

Can't understand it myself !!!

its all b****y politics, im so sick of it :P

BMW's legal depeartment obviously have way too much time on their hands.

The Radical SRV8 recently set a new record on the Nurburgring and it wasn't acknowleged because the car wasn't using German liscence plates!

Make them go away, i get so frustrated when im told things like this. I don't watch the news anymore because i just get angry with all the idiots in charge.

*sigh*

Well, lets hope for 2 miracles.

An England vs Germany World Cup Final

England wearing the classic Mini Badge on the fronts of their shirts :P

and a re-inactment of the 5-1 thrashing we gave them a few years back.

That'll teach em where to shove their beach towels. :)

Especially since it would be on their home turf.

Just imagine Minispares without the MINI in the name, what could they call them selves???

Well, 'Mini-Machine' changed to 'M-Machine', so 'MiniSpares' could change to 'M Spares', but even better...just to p*ss off the BMW suits, 'Mini Sport' could call themselves, 'M Sport'. Sound familiar? LOL

Next Renewal Date: 05.01.2016

I wonder if what im thinking is possible, take the trademark before they renew it? Ala bribe someone like Alexander Grahan Bell did years ago with the phone? Of course the bribe bit will be edited for legal reasons. :P

just thought id mention that this ha been going on for ages. As soon as BMW bought the rights to mini they went to court about copyrighting the name and removing it from everywhere except for their car and chosen places.

I have emails from BMW saying they own MINI (thats in caps) and Heritage own Mini. As far as i am aware, companys using the name Mini or mini pay a certain amount to heritage for the use of the words.

Maybe BMW sent me the wrong info?
