So she's getting checked out by a Mini mechanic on the Shore tomorrow, I'll see how well she is compared to how good she looks.

Fingers crossed she is a good'n and go from there really.

So I heard back from the Mini man and he had a few points, some that I could fix myself some it needs some pro health packs for.

  • Second gear is a bit too crunchy and he recommends checking it out and maybe replacing it.
  • Ball Joints have a bit of play
  • Boots need doing
  • Shocks are a bit worn too
  • Hand brake needs adjusting
  • Oil drip

Good points were that she was very tidy, interior is tidy as well

But he said, getting all the little thing fixed between $3000-5000K  Depending on how bad the gearbox is, if gears are gone and need replacing then 5 if its all relatively good then around 3

Going to see him tonight see what needs doing with the current owner and then see if we can settle on a price.

Yeah I thought the oil drip was a feature, but he says while the engine is out he can remedy it for a little while anyway.

Just gotta work out if we can agree on a price

Hi fellow kiwi,

Min looks lovely.... There's a Mini guy in Glenfield (Diana Drive) who I would recommend to do any mechanicals you need.
Enjoy it and tell us the specs?

Older cars usually do :)   I think that might have been a friends of theirs, it was no where to be seen when I went to look at it, but it could have been theirs too

wow 3-5k seems expensive I would imagine 90% of that would be G/B related because the other issues are very minor.. oil leak is a gimme!!

Oh and congrates on the purchase

I think that figure was if everything was done with replacement parts, he said that the gearbox would be $1.5-3k and then $1-2k on replacing all the other parts. But after that it would be mint.

I'll probably do the shocks and what ever else I can do myself since that would be cheaper.
