I placed an order with Minispares a week or so ago. It arrived next day so very happy with that.  Opened it up and all seemed well, but then i went to trial fit the big ends and discovered this.....

Bigendissue_zpsd89123fb.jpg

So, phoned them and arranged a return with them saying they'd refund my postage costs seeing as it was their fault - still not had the replacement sent and no refund of postage.

Then from the same order i went off to my local engineers with a set of exhaust valves and valve guides. I did open one of the valve packets (sealed paper packet) to check and all seemed well......errrrr, not really......spot the difference???

P4260088_zpsd4e12e6d.jpg

These valves are all the same part number in the same packets.  Can only assume the 3 on the right haven't been finished off when manufactured.

Both these issues are in house quality control rather than packing monkey's getting it wrong.....MINISPARES - SORT IT OUT!!!!!

I also had a Minispares HI-LO that had a hole in the end that was too small to accept a knuckle joint - phoned them and they sent out a replacement straight away, but again a quality control issue.

Ha! Me too!  I'd bought my set probably 2 years ago from them...the whole HI-Lo kit...but only installed last month once the resto actually got to that point.  Had the exact same problem with one of the rear rods.  Didn't send it back as I figured it was too late.  Ground out the opening a bit more to get a better fit.

Reading your other thread I thought you said that these were packed by an external company and they hadn't put the relevant packaging material in to stop these rubbing together when sealed? So Mini Spares had know way of knowing this was a problem?

I don't work for Mini Spares and any problems have been sorted out straight away, just think it's important to state the facts when criticising a process or problem?

Mini spares all the way, spent thousands with them and everything has been spot on. I have been rebuilding my mini over the last 1.5 years and have taken things back to them unused, purchased a year before as specs change. Can not fault them.

I own a couple of parts from mini sport and one of them I threw straight in the bin!

Have spent a good £400 odd with Minisport over the last month or so and have been well chuffed with them. The bloke I spoke to when I had a query with a Stage 1 kit was very helpful, and the stuff always turns up quick and well packaged. I prefer the website over Minispare's too which swayed me to make the initial purchase I suppose.

Have to agree with this. Minispares' website is full of bugs on Safari. Minisport's website is nice and functional and is easier to find things.

Just use who ever is cheepest..

MiniSport make some great products.. And some of their stuff is competitively priced..

Minispares have a lot of quality parts but mainly standard stuff..

M-machine are great for panels and are really helpful.. Somerford are ok..

And engine builders.. Well I'm yet to find a mini specialist that builds quality...

Minispares are the retailer so it is their responsibility to check the stock they are sending out before it goes out to the customer....so i don't see your point.

There is no 'relevant packaging' between the big ends, but the shrink wrap that holds them all together was damaged which allowed them to move hense the damage - Again, it is the retailer who is responsible for ensuring the product is up to scratch (no pun intended).

The valves - again should have been checked....those are the facts.

Agreed but you clearly stated in your thread that it was the manufacturers:

"In all fairness to Minispares it was a sealed box so they couldn't have known and they are very easy to deal with and i've just got them in the post so fingers crossed will have them next week at some point."

"The person who packed them in the Mahle factory in Slovakia is to blame as the outside box was sealed bu tthe inner wrapping was knackered so they rubbed up against each other.  Minispares have had them delivered today so I assume i'll be getting replacements after the bank holiday postal shutdown."

So as stated this is a bit contradictory to your intial post especially when we are providing a review??

I clearly said that it wasn't minispares packing that was at fault - but their quality control is at fault.

And I don't see any contradiction.

I did get the big ends back in the post to them and over a week later i have still not had a replacement so i'm not exactly jumping for joy to discover another problem with the same expensive order.

I only use Minispares, and will continue to use only them, but I have experienced several problems with certain products and i doubt i'm the only one.

Mahle bearings come to us in sealed packets, with stickers securing the boxes to prevent tampering. As such we wouldn't open them to check them. Valves come into us in 100's and as you state in paper bags that are sealed, we don't open then up as they stay protected from the elements. Drop me a PM and I'll happily send you another out tomorrow.
I wouldn't expect any Mahle bearings to come into us like that, it's not something we would check for routinely.
