Can anyone explane to me how I would test the connection on the suspected fuse with a multimeter ? I plan on gettin on in the morning.
Sorry to all that I sound a bit daft, electrical is not my strong point. I can explan the inner workings of a camera but not a fusebox hahah

First thing to check would be that there is a supply to the fuse's supply terminal when the ignition switch is in the accessory position. If there is and you have a good fuse installed but still nothing is working you should continuity test the cables in the circuit that run to everything. The cheap pre-insulated crimps that have been used are probably going to prove to be part of the problem. You only need a £10.00 low scale digital meter of the type you can find at B&Q. As long as it can run a continuity test, 20V DC, and up to about 10A current it should do all you will ever need to diagnose problems in your Mini.

I've changed the crappy yellow crimp for a new one :-D
As I'm waiting for the rain to die down to go out I did the following. I removed everything from the 4th slot and moved everything from the third down (including the fuse)
The heater jumped into life straight away. But no luck with the wipers. So that must mean there is a fault with the fuse box on the third slot ? And a separate issue with my wipers ?
Any new ideas would be ace. It looks like the wires from the wiper go behind the dash. Is it worth a look there ?

There are 2 separate load cables at the fuse, did you check if it's just a case of one working and not the other? And maybe the one you remade the end of is the one that works?

Sorry dan I'm a bit lost here. I have 2 green and orange cables going into on side if that's what you mean ? one above the other ingot the same fuse. (front and back).
I'll pop out this afternoon to get that multimeter. Hopefully that'll make it easier.
I really appreciate the help so far !

I mean it could be wired with the heater on one cable and the wipers on the other, and you fixed one by changing the crimp. I can't remember without a diagram if that's how it's put together.

All you can tell with a test lamp is where there is power, you have established that now by fixing the heater!
