Hi All,

I have realised that after having my front and rear suspension converted to coil springs that the nearside front spring is no longer sitting in the upper bracket. I can partially rotate the Hi-Lo and I can see with an inspection mirror that the spring is still sitting in the top of the Hi Lo but is not engaged with the top bracket. Any ideas on what may have caused this and how to resolve the problem as I have had a go jacking up the lower arm and trying to align it with no luck.

Thanks in advance,

Nic

Is this the minitastic set up?

What dampers are you running?

Have you got shorter shocks or the lowered shock mounts?

Im not sure who the spring set up is from as I had it fitted by The Real Mini Company. The shock abosrbers that I currently have on the front and back are Bilstein performance road. The shock mounts have not been lowered but they have recently been fixed due to rust. Im not sure if these shocks are shorter or not?

When running springs you MUST have a huge droop stop fitted to prevent the top arm from coming down too far when the car is eitehr jacked up or you yump it.
I've found that you also have to run a slightly higher rideheight to keep a bit of pre-load on the springs.

If you don't, the springs can become unseated and snap.

Hi All,

We have been able to seat the spring back in. However it still sitting really high and if we adjust the hi low it doesnt go any lower, we have also tried takng out the shock absorber with the same result. So we have come to the result that there is something else resisting it to go down, any ideas what it could be?

Thanks in advance

Nic

It's been adjusted so low it's sat on the bump stop.

Drive like this and you are in real danger of breaking the spring.

It is not sitting on the bump stop, there is a 1.5" - 2" gap
