Hi All....The OAP again!
87 Mini City. Rebuilt suspension and Smootha Ride cones fitted. New swivels, bushes etc. All bolts and sub-frame checked for tightness. Cones checked for seating correctly, new polly sub-frame mounts and pillar bolt rubbers. Loud rattle from drivers side front footwell / bulkhead area as suspension moves on road surface. Not clutch related. Can sense it slightly through steering.
Checked for any looseness anywhere near the FR. No change.
Could this be the outer CV as it was not changed (appeared to be OK on strip-down)?
Could it be the steering rack? Have removed the rack and checked for obvious play, checked "u" bolt tightness and mounting. There was some creaking from the rack ball joints as it had been stored for a long time so I ensured they were well lubricated. Still groan a bit.
Now running out of ideas as I can't keep stripping it down. Other similar posts on the forum do not actually indicate what was found to be the trouble for others. HELP!!!
Regards, Frank
