Ideally you want full thread engagement in the nut, 1.5 x the thread diameter of thread engagement is normally accepted to be ok but as an absolute minimum

that's ideally what i would like to do but those wheels need the wings cut so im stuck with the wide group 5s unless i go for another wide type

definitely dont go back to standard... thats just boring lol

 i put them on and then took em straight back off as there was little thread holding the wheels on :/ im gunna put 10mm spacers and longer studs on down the line :)

 

so having decided on the wider arches i now don't know whether to use group 5 black arches (as i already have) or put Group 2 race arches in body colour as JB93's mini 30 :/

 is there much handling difference with the wider wheels?

I think so. Definitely harder to park because of the restricted lock. And you feel the bumps a lot more too. I thought Rover had to beef up the steering rack on the last models to compensate for the bigger wheels.
