Better brakes are ALWAYS a good idea, no matter whether you are running a little 998 or a turbo 1275.

and lets face it if you're going to the effort of fitting any type of engine mods you will be driving quickly and thus better stopping power is always handy. Don't be an ass and proclaim you wont need to uprate the brakes, at the very least a full brake service and inspection is advisable.

Now, aimed at the OP:

I would do some revision to be honest, it doesn't sound like you have much experience with forced induction, I would do some reading right down to the basics of what forced induction actually achieves; key words to search would be volumetric efficiency, that and what you need to do to the engine in order to run a reliable turbo. David Vizards "tuning the a-series" book is excellent at all mods for a mini engine and will provide 99% of the information you require.

Don't forget the most important thing if you are going to go turbo, you will need a good set of brakes.

Why?

really?
Just because you can go faster it doesn't mean you are going to go faster, or are you saying better brakes because of the extra weight of the turbo?!

So you go through all the effort of a turbo conversion to just use it exactly the same as a standard 1275. What a waste of time.

If you can go faster you really need to think you will need to stop quicker (not all the time) but you will have moments. No i am not saying the little extra weight of a turbo conversion is the reason for better brakes.

I am in no way saying go spend loads on a new set of 4 pots because it isn't always needed but i am giving good advice to somebody. I have a fair bit of experience with a turbo mini.

Anyway back to giving "good" advice please and not being the typical TMF

If you can run 8mm id fuel lines, the less restrictive the better for the fuel return.

I didn't say that, what I meant was yes you can get to the speed limits much quicker but you won't necessarily go quicker

LOLOL so you guys are saying your never gonna go over the speed limits? Nope point turboing it then... 60bhp is for than enough to get you too 70mph

It's not about how fast you go, but how quickly you get to that speed.

You can't ******* a bullshitter guys

This Harrysmini kid is hilarious across this forum, he's 17? Doesn't even have a license and is giving people driving advice, making sure we all know the law.

I'd advise better breaks for any mini, even a 998 na, it important to stop whatever speed your doing. It's prpbs not so bad if you haven't driven anything other than an older car but jumping in a modern car and almost giving yourself whiplash. Just because he's not doing 70+ on the road doesn't mean he won't be doing it on a track ect.
