I have used white spirit but only when I've been brushing on oil based paint as the white spirit seems to take ages to evaporate. I would fear that 2pack would react against it. I could always try some and then spray a little celly primer on it to see what happens I suppose!

Thanks for the link Ian however they only quote for postage to Scottish highlands with no mention of islands. Without having looked into things too much I would guess they wont post it to us. All the suppliers on ebay are the same. We're going down to aviemore in scotland for ten days holiday in july, however we're flying down and not taking the car on the overnight ferry, but I was thinking to smuggle on 5L of panelwipe and stow it in the overhead locker. Sounds safe enough, dosent it?!

liquids must be in a clear bag and a max of something like 100ml to take on a plane.

Hahaha! I don't think 5L of highly flammable panelwipe would be considered for taking on a plane as hand luggage somehow. I did hear a story recently of someone taking a can of paint in their suitcase, imagine the lid coming off that bugger and the resulting mess inside the suitcase!

Small aerosol can of brake cleaner purchased today for a trial to see how it performs. If there's no problems then the retailers have a 5L can in stock that'll do the job nicely.

I don't claim to have a clue what I am doing regards paint, I just throw some stuff out of a gun in a garage.
How ever I use some clean white rag and gun wash. Soak the rad in the wash, wipe the panel with that. I've never had any problems.
Think I pay around £10 per 5L .

I thought about meths but wasn't confident about it leaving a residue that may react with 2pack, also I can only buy it in small quantities so could end up being expensive. The gun wash sounds good but again I'm not sure if I can buy it from a retail outlet. The local bodyshops will obviously have it but can be a bit prickly about selling stuff to the public. The brake cleaner seams the most practical for my situation so will give that a go and see what the results are. Thanks for all the replies folks!

I buy mine online from eBay. Sorry if you've covered any specific reason as to why you can't buy online.

Tried the brake cleaner last night by firstly spraying it directly onto the panel, freshly rubbed down celly primer, and felt that it may be softening the primer so I sprayed it onto the rag then wiped the area and this seemed to work fine.
