Right, managed to get quite a lot done the other day, cleaned up the dizzy and starter motor, began to clean up the alternator but got bored !

Manifold and twin carbs are just resting on the studs at the moment, jus got a quezon to ask, does the heat shield and springs usually sit that close to the manifold ? I took it off so long ago can't remember what it was like !

It is pretty much touching the manifold, you could probably pit a couple of sheets of paper in between ?

Thanks in advance !

Would anyone recommend putting exhaust wrap on the manifold or should I leave it as it is ?

Also the other question I forgot to ask was does anyone have a link for black or red scillicone hoses for a 998 engine ? Don't want to be using old shabby pipes ! Would prefer a whole kit so all of my pipe will be new

Anyone ?:( the butterfly rod isn't actually touching the manifold even though it does look like it, it's not stopping anything from functioning normally, just not sure wether it should be that close

Hi,

It all looks ok!

Just nip up the manifold nuts fairly tight and see where things rest.
Tightening the nuts will raise the inlet manifold slightly and get the throttle lever and throttle return spring bracket a bit further away from the exhaust manifold!
If you look at the way the return spring bracket is formed, you can see it's been shaped that way to clear the manifold!

I basically had to shift and jiggle everything around to get it to all fit together properly!

Cheers, Steve

If the spring bracket is touching the manifold just use some washers as spacers to make sure it doesn't touch the centre down-pipe.

How can you use washers as spacers ? Because then the manifold won't seal to the head manifold gasket ?

To space the spring bracket off the heat shields, not to space the manifold off the head.

On my 'S' I have a washer pack of around 1/4" to spacer the spring mounting bracket from the centre pipe of the LCB. This keeps the bracket clear and enables the springs to be easily attached to the bracket.

Yep, mine also needed little washers to space it out.
