I don't see how the two pictures of a Classic Mini at the top aren't enough to show this site is for the Classic Mini.

I don't really think it would make a difference personally.

Are you saying our BINI friends are a bit fick ?

The other thing is, if we add the word classic we'd have to either re-design the logo, or make the writing on the bottom smaller (making it even less noticeable)

If MINI owners use their phones to search for a forum then it doesn't say anything on the mobile version

Just The Mini Forum at the top

I don't know how many people use their phones for internet but I am most of the time

There are already forum's for MINI owners so lets just keep this mini

Speaking for myself, i have no interest whatsoever in BINI's and i think its a joke they used the brand for that big ugly car to be frank

The OP of the thread about the auto transmission was online for less than 15 minutes, and I doubt they'll ever be back.

We see this quite a lot, they post a question, someone directs them somewhere else or they realise it's mainly classic minis here and they never return. I often direct people who ask about welding to the MIG forum, they may get the answer here but I think the information on there is clear and concise. Directing people to a Bini specific forum is a place where people are more likely to have experienced similar issues.

If we have a Bini section (which we're not going to) where do we draw the line? There are many cars with links to the classic mini.

I know some members have both and may be able to offer advice, many members have several cars, we're not going to start a section for every brand of car or it'll no longer be a mini forum

Yup. The Metro being a prime example. Loads of users have Metros AND Mini's, they're a very similar car in mechanical terms. But we don't have a Metro section on here for them.

if you put 1959 - 2000, people with 2001 MINIs will think "oh it's only 1 year off, how much difference can their be".

If you put classic mini, well I've met MINI owners who think theirs are classics too.

just leave it - it's not causing major distress is it?

best option would be to put a message in during registration that requires a tick to say they acknowledge, that the forum is for owners of the original, classic mini, and while MINI owners are welcome they would probably get better help/advice/experience elsewhere.

Good idea, this would be more effective.

It would be the end of Theminiforum as we know it. MINIS are going up in numbers while Minis are going down. Over time there would be a majority of MINI threads and us Mini folk would be pushed into the background. Eventually the forum would be a MINI forum with a Mini section.

Keep it as it is- The best god damn Mini forum on the web!!!

P.S. I think adding 1959 - 2000 into the heading would be a nice touch.

P.P.S. I think a redesign of the header wouldn't go amiss. Something retro looking with a Mk1 and a Clubby maybe. Why we have had that blue race Mini for so long I really don't know. The only thing I can guess is that it has something to do with someone that runs the forum?
