This is how she looks now , not finnished yet but in a usable state
I still have to :
Fit the buckets (just need to sort some runners )
Fit the seam covers (need spraying)
get the right ride hight (the O/S/F wheel is catching the arch)
the engine is tired , a bit smokey , rattling but she flys
I have a couple of 1275 engines of unknown condition i will have to sort one for her sooner rather than later .

In the pictures it looks like you've welded and oversill onto that car. What did you do that for? Surely and oversill sort of goes against the idea of a retoration? :smartass:

There is nothing wrong with "oversills " , there is only something wrong with the way that "cowboys " fit them , they bang them on over the top of all the crud and in no time at all they have rusted through again :D
where as i cut the old sill off , cleaned up all the edges , primed with "Zinc weld through paint" and red leaded the inner sill and the outer sill (inside) and then i welded the sill on using the corect "spotwelder" along all the pinched seams .
and when i get round to it (before the winter) i will drill all hollow sections (like the sills) and inject waxoyle into them
But you are half right...ish , if i had of being going for a "restoration" i would have used the corect narrow sills to maintain the originality but i only wanted a strong clean shell , i will not be entering any concourse events ! :D

Yeh sound like you have done a good job.
All the minis i have come across with overcills have been totally destroyed by them but the original narrow cill with the vents seems just as bad.
I think that having a sealled cill full of waxoll would be a much better idea!

Hmmm nice, 5 cills! bets thats fun to get off. My first mini had, had quite a few overcills and at some stage someone had dug the inner cill and original outer cill, out just leaving the tack welded overcills holding it all together. Nice hey!!!
O well probably better than some minis around.

:D
