There is nothing wrong with "oversills " , there is only something wrong with the way that "cowboys " fit them , they bang them on over the top of all the crud and in no time at all they have rusted through again
where as i cut the old sill off , cleaned up all the edges , primed with "Zinc weld through paint" and red leaded the inner sill and the outer sill (inside) and then i welded the sill on using the corect "spotwelder" along all the pinched seams .
and when i get round to it (before the winter) i will drill all hollow sections (like the sills) and inject waxoyle into them :grin:
But you are half right...ish , if i had of being going for a "restoration" i would have used the corect narrow sills to maintain the originality but i only wanted a strong clean shell , i will not be entering any concourse events !
