Hey all!

Bit of a newbie here, and a relatively new driver! I'd really appreciate some advice!

I have a Mini Cooper S, and managed to crash into a bush the other day.

The front right wheel seemed to have been pushed back so that, when rolling, the wheel rubs against the wheelguard.

Furthermore, the small panel in front of the door has been pushed up and out of place.

I wasn't going very fast, so it seems like a whole lot of bad luck.

Anyhow, the Mini garage I sent it two has given me an €8'000 bill, (which seems extortionate to me).

Does this seem an appropriate sum to you..? More to the point, how would you suggest I proceed?

'Kicking myself' doesn't even begin to encompass my feelings...

Thank you so much for any help, I really appreciate this!

Thanks again!

All the best,

MiniIssue

P.S.
I've posted this on two sections because I was unsure which would be best!

If this is a classic mini then I'd be looking at getting it up in the air and checking the  extent of the damage. You could get it on a jig to see whats bent. Clearly if the wheel has been pushed back then there's chance the subframe has some damage. More info is required.

Pics would help massively on this one. May be simple, may be VERY complicated.

A girl I used to work with ran her New Mini up on to a bank a bit hard. She managed to drive away from it and the car looked fine apart from the wheel not looking perfectly in the centre of the driver's side arch.

Someone rear ended her car a few months later and when it was in the garage the mechanics made the comment that it looked like the car had been in an accident as the rear of the front k frame looked like it had buckled.

She was given an estimate of about £6500 to have it replaced (which she didn't bother with).

If its a Classic mini I'd start taking measurements between the mounting points (side to side, front to back and diagonally) to see if anything is really out. Someone on hear can probably check them against their mini for you. Check your front tie rods as they often bend as well.

If its a New Mini. Either put up with the problem if you can of if you can't scrap it and go buy something else with the 8000 Euro (before anyone has a go at me for this response we probably would have said the same 40 years ago when there were a lot more, what we call classic minis now, on the road)
