has anyone got a fix for this which doesn't require welding or using a cable for hif carbs, or if not a mod for the hif carb cable?

Sorry to drag this up from the annals of history (blame Google), but just wanted to add that I have just had this problem and found that an M6 rivnut works very well for this too
