oh, I get it now, I didn't know that wilwood slave was a pull type,

I was thinking it was a push type for some crazy reason

im going to pick up a cg10 with small box this up coming weekend

and I plan to stick it into a lhd mini

here's a picture of the mini that is going to go from a A998 to a Nissan 998

yeah, I looked up the slave cylinder on wilwood web site

doesn't look like to hard of a job to convert the cable to hydro

Yeah piss easy really, easier than cable and should be more reliable.

Is the clutch still light with the hydraulics?

Way lighter than the 1380 I had, smoother than the cable setup I did have.

Damn - don't you just hate it when someone comes up with a simpler way of doing something?

I'm sticking the Micra lump in a GTM so hydraulic clutch was the only option (or a clutch cable 4M+ long). I'm using the same slave but I've extended the fixed bracket on the engine backwards to get the cylinder between it and the arm. I'll see how it goes when used in anger but I might even revert to this setup.

well i hope it helps some people, if i had know about this when i started the build it would have saved time , money and lots of drilled holes in the body!

yeah probably, not really had a working mini for a while worthy of showing off so not been to a show in years.

Warning its a rusty heap of a car at the moment.

Any shows of interest that i should attend?

In other news i did some extra work on it yesterday.

Camber, caster, toe, corner weight looping has nearly come to an end.

Made a speedo cable using the gearbox connector from the micra cable, the outer cable from the micra cable cut down.

Then with the original inners from the mini cable un-cut and the speedo end of the outer transferred to the cut part of the micra cable.

Then welded a blob of weld on the gearbox side which i then filed into the same shape as the micra cable had. it just fits the drive gear in the gearbox and powers the speedo fine.

i also got dye grinder into the inlet manifold to smooth off a bit of the weld edges, this has nearly eliminated the whistling at partial throttle.

I have drilled and tapped 2 vacuum connectors, 8mm and 5mm, to the inlet manifold. This was for the positive crank case breather and the fuel pressure regulator as per the micra design. its made such a big difference to smooth idle!

one thing i haven't done, which I'm not sure its needed, is attach some sort of speed sensor to a moving part.

The standard micra speedo sends to the ECU a speed indicator pulse, now I'm sure it must do something but i can't think what. Im guessing raise idle slightly if you are moving but braking with no throttle, that way it would increase vacuum for the brake servo?

either way it drives fine without, i suppose we won't know if it effects power until it was rolling road'd.

What clocks are you using? I used the Micra speedo cable no problem.

Large central speedo, 130mph cooper one. Uses a much thicker cable than the micra one. Are you using the later ones that go behind the steering wheel?

Yeah later clocks, the Micra cable mates up fine to them :-)
