As I remember, the original Mini was quite popular in Paris. Small and agile, perfect for the city. Always with these additional chrome bumpers for the parisian way of parking ...

Four weeks ago I found this nice setting in the Rue Bréa:

A real Mini behind the vehicle which manages to take profit from the legendary image of the original. Somehow matching the name of the book store: „Pages of History“. :)

Lots of modern cars that make a profit today are based on the legendary image of the original, eg. latest Porsche 911, VW Beetle & Fiat 500 for instance......there is nothing wrong in building cars that make a profit and provide jobs for car workers, thats is what the car industry is supposed to do !

(Nice photo though of a classic and modern Mini/MINI). :mrcool:

We usually go to Perpignan once a year to watch Rugby and there are lots of mini's there! Typically of french cars most of them seem to be heavily battered with damage to the bodywork

You are right. Nothing wrong with that. They successfully built up a whole brand based on the Mini legend. It's a design and marketing thing. Adds glory to the original :D.

And what's more, even the ancient competitors use the basic Mini layout for their retro vehicles. So you keep them on the road nowadays, thank you Issigoni. ;D

This is about 25 or 30 years ago, shot from a hotel window. The focus is on the guitar-shop, the Minis are just there by chance.

Showing: The Mini was popular at the time, despite my memories not ALL of them had additional bumpers and Paris has since become cleaner …
