My opinion is that I'd rather have a cage, but one that is fully padded. Any body parts hitting a padded cage is going to hurt less that a head hitting a steering wheel or B post.

I also like my SD cages. They are very well designed. They manage to tuck the bars away so they take up the least space which also means the amount of metal your body can hit in an accident is at a minimum (but still needs padding!).

I think Dan makes some excellent points but seen as your post is followed up by some pictures of a 'mini' mini I don't think I'll be directing my missus towards the post.....

As far as being p*ssy whipped goes.....it comes to us all at some point...I'm a simple creature who accepts a simple life for simple rewards....The married men amongst you will understand.... ;)

Cheers again,

FG.

I am married with children, but I still do what I want, and my son is deffo not wrapped in cotton wool.

Anyway, I reckon in some accidents a cage will save you and some it won't, you take your chance I guess. but you take a risk getting up in the morning, crossing the road or sticking your face in a fan.

Did the fan thing once with a mate (drunken contest type thing) only it was with our fingers yes it was stupid and yes it hurt once we where sober and no i dont recommend it.

I will have a cage in my mini when i get round to finishing it. but i agree with will_h there can be some instances where it is not benificial to have one. but the way i see it the benifits out weight the draw backs.

Interesting reading.

A friend of mine has a full FIA cage that he's willing to sell to me.

As above the benefits out weigh the drawbacks but still, something to think about whether one should be fitted.

In any case, how do you fit them? Is it a case of getting someone to install them or do you rip out your interior and do it yourself?

Personal preference. If you feel like you can fit it then there's no reason why you can't, but yea, you'll need to take out your seats, and side pockets, and side windows to make sure you don't smash them (been done before).
