It's not a 970, or it'd not have a small bore head on it... , if fact I'm not even sure it's a 997 as it has a 1000 tag on the back which usually indicates it's a 998....

Only sure way to tell is to take the head off and measure the stroke.

If that is worth £5k what is a rebuilt 1275 'S' engine with original 3-syncro remote change box c/w remote change worth? Just ask because I have one in pieces.

A cooper S engine is worth more in parts anyway.... I would never build one up unless I was commissioned to do so...

I think you are right. In the past 18 months I've sold a 970 crank, a 1275 'S' crank, a never re-bored Mk.1 'S' bloc, a couple of sets of 'S' rods and a 163 fully gas-flowed race head. They all made a lot of money.

It says mk2 which they didnt do a 997 in mk2.

997 should have a 22a363 or 22g68 casing on the box

998cc only had the 22g68 when mk1

and in mk2 998 cc was 22a1288 or 1128 casing

also if it were a 997 it would have the pre 65 timing cover which it doesnt
